Should We Rethink Birthright Citizenship?

"No other wealthy, western nations grant automatic citizenship to those who simply happen to be born within their borders to non-citizens. These nations recognize that citizenship involves more than the physical location of one's birth; it also involves some measure of cultural connection and allegiance."

This is a powerful amendment, and one which should be given thought. Ron Paul is one of the good guys in Congress. We should listen to him, and hear him out. Down below read "PowerCow's" argument. It would make more sense that if the parents are in the country long enough to get citizenship and are contributing to society, that children are therefore citizens. We should have a set of rules and law surrounding this, not simply carte-blanche citizenship.

I would want Congress to come up with some good plans, and then we should have a serious discussion.
