Washington Post Op-Ed: Bush is Worst President Ever

"Historians are loath to predict the future. It is impossible to say with certainty how Bush will be ranked in, say, 2050. But somehow, in his first six years in office he has managed to combine the lapses of leadership, misguided policies and abuse of power of his failed predecessors. I think there is no alternative but to rank him the worst ever"

We can all say the American people are to blame, or the partisan congress, or the Republicans, or maybe even some Democrats. (Keep in mind that I am a Republican, or at least what is supposed to be a conservative) However, all it takes are a few bad apples at the top, and those who run things in the background to really make a difference. The PNAC boys, the Trilateral Commission and the Carlye Group (among others) really knew what they were doing.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." -- Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials
